Overview: 

This California approved certification course spans over eight 10-hour days. The day begins at 8 am and ends at 6:30pm. The purpose of this 80 hour initial certification course is to familiarize the learner with start-up and operational regulations for an RCFE.

This RCFE Course will help you...

√ Become familiar with the psychosocial needs of the residents living in a RCFE and understand their individual needs.

√ Engage in interactive experiences focused on the regulatory requirements specific to a RCFE

√ Understand how to create a positive environment for those living in a RCFE with focus on those living with Dementia.

This course is required to enable the participant to request to take the state exam to become a Residential Care Facility Administrator for the Elderly.

Steps to Becoming

RCFE Certified

in California 

 

As an administrator at a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly it means you will be working in any facility of any size capacity that provides 24-hour-a-day non-medical care and supervision to individuals 60 years of age or older in California. This type of facility is often referred to as an Assisted Living if it holds 16 or more beds.  Likewise, it is often called Board and Care if the location has 4-6 beds.

In order to qualify as a certified administrator for a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly you are required to meet the following qualifications.

To start, all candidates are required to take a state approved 80-hour Initial Certification Training Program (ICTP).  To see upcoming course availability, click  HERE

Upon ARF ICTP course completion, all participants have 60 days to schedule their certification exam.  Every applicant must pass the state exam within 3 attempts.  Register for your exam HERE.

Once you have passed your certification exam let us be the first to congratulate you!  Please note that you have 30 days upon being notified that you successfully passed to apply for your Administrator Certificate.   Click HERE to apply.
